Family Vacation: Cruising Edition
Category: Family - November 4, 2016Video bloggers April and Justin, of AprilJustinTV, are popular among their viewers for chronicling their adventures together along with their toddler son, Liam. That’s why they were so interested in taking a cruise to check out Royal Caribbean’s family-friendly offerings—which is exactly what they did recently onboard Harmony of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship.
“[It was] my first time on a cruise ship, so I had no real point of reference of what a cruise is like,” Justin said. “One of the things I like is that there are a lot of areas on the ship with open air. It’s just such a unique experience.”
They came on board with an eye for activities and amenities that were good for children, which started when they viewed some of the ship’s staterooms. They gave the Family Oceanview Stateroom points for having common seating areas, pullout beds, bunk beds and spacious bathrooms, and were wowed by the luxurious Royal Suite that featured two levels, a fully outfitted kitchen and wraparound deck with a hot tub.
What really caught their eye were the dedicated spaces on the ship specially designed for kids and families. They started at the nursery for Royal Babies & Tots, which is staffed daily and entertains children ages six months to 36 months. “They can have your kids all day long, so it’s great for parents to explore adult areas of the ship and then come back and pick them up,” April said.
After checking out the other groups—Aquanauts (ages three to five), Explorers (ages six to eight) and Voyagers (ages nine to 11)—Justin marveled over the variety of experiences Royal Caribbean offers every day. “There’s so much to do on the ship for all ages,” he said. “Even teens can show off their adventurous side at tailor-made pool parties, open mic nights and more with their own spots to chill, dance and make friends.”
After discovering the YouthZone, a dedicated kids’ neighborhood packed with activities, they enjoyed the seaside-style Boardwalk, notable for its show-stopping carousel, and Splashaway Bay, a waterpark designed for younger guests. Now, the couple already is planning their return with Liam. To see their experience at sea, check out the video below.
