Royal Caribbean Puts Signature Spin on Family Vacation Classic
Category: Ships - May 3, 2016Coney Island, Atlantic City, Brighton – Boardwalks are a time-honored feature of the seaside vacation. Harmony of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s newest ship come May 2016, honors this family-strolling, ice-cream-licking, arcade-gaming history with its signature Boardwalk neighborhood. It is the best of the “good old days” of food and games, combined with reimagined entertainment for the modern fun-loving guest.
Artisan-crafted Carousel: This circling menagerie of 18 animals is a direct tribute to Victorian Boardwalks with day-in-a-holiday scenes captured in hand-painted panels. Each animal is a work of art itself: hand-carved from wood and painted with meticulous care. This smooth roundabout ride is a relaxing time out from all the thrills featured onboard the world’s largest cruise ship.
Fun Food: How’s this pairing for you? Boardwalk and ice cream. Hot dogs, hamburgers and ice cream are absolute naturals for this kind of rambling day. The Boardwalk Dog House or Johnny Rockets are just the places for a taste of Americana, and if you want a little kick to your treats, check out Sabor Modern Mexican. Oh, and if you are craving a tall macchiato, then visit the full-size, full-service Starbucks right on the Boardwalk.
Landing Zone: Grab a margarita or a shot of tequila at the Sabor Bar, and indulge in better-than-average people-watching as other guests plunge down The Ultimate Abyss and land at the center of the Boardwalk.
Boardwalk Arcade: No matter how old you get, chances are the pull of Skee-Ball is like a compass to True North. This classic, along with ring toss, and other arcade favorites you can play while simultaneously eating an ice cream cone or drinking a latte, is available for a whole lot of fun and games.
Rock-climbing Wall and Lucky Climber: It really wouldn’t be a Royal Caribbean ship without the iconic rock-climbing wall. Call it exercise, call it adventure – however you see it – but definitely call it the onboard activity that started the series of innovations that redefined what it means to cruise. Kid climbers have their own special wall, the Lucky Climber.
AquaTheater: Water-themed and diving shows were a staple of Boardwalk entertainment. This outdoor amphitheater is at the back of the ship, and celebrates all things aquatic with a breathtaking backdrop of ocean, water and lights. Aquatic acrobatic and synchronized swimming performances entertain and awe.
