"SIX" Opens on Broadway, Currently Playing on Select Norwegian Ships
Currently playing on board select Norwegian ships, SIX, the critically-acclaimed pop musical about Henry VIII’s wives is scheduled to open on Broadway next week to much fanfare. The global hit has been extremely well received. Reviews have called its lyrics "wickedly smart", and the scores "a forcefield". Most recently, Six was featured on The New York Times as part of its Spring Preview, where its mentioned that the "slyly saucy pop musical" has been previewing to full houses before its Broadway opening. SIX is currently available on board Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Breakaway.
From Tudor queens to pop princesses, SIX is a historical retelling of Henry VIII’s six wives. Each leading lady takes centerstage to share her personal story and reclaim her identity. Remixing 500 years of heartbreak into a celebration of 21st century girl power, the production features lively performances and music by an all-female band.
Norwegian Bliss is currently sailing to the Bahamas and Florida from New York until April 2020. Then, she will head to Alaska from Seattle, starting in May 2020 through June 2020. Norwegian Bliss is one of our most exciting ships yet, and features a race track, an outdoors laser tag arena, the revolutionary Observation Lounge and a large variety of dining options, from Texas BBQ to locally-sourced seafood.
Norwegian Breakaway is currently sailing seven-day cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Orlando and Miami through September 2020. Starting in the fall, Norwegian Breakaway will be cruising to the picturesque Canada and New England region. On board, you will get to enjoy the Waterfront, our quarter-mile oceanfront promenade, the largest ropes course at sea, and experience complete relaxation at the Thermal Suite.
From the premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2017 to its recently announced debut at the Brooks Atkinson on Broadway in spring 2020, the musical was written by aspiring young playwrights Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss and produced by Andy and Wendy Barnes of the Global Musicals theatre company, award-winning songwriter George Stiles, the acclaimed West End producer Kenny Wax and Broadway impresario Kevin McCollum.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Norwegian Cruise Line to showcase this award-winning musical for the first time at sea,” said Kenny Wax, one of the producers of SIX. “Originating from the minds of two senior Cambridge University students in the U.K., the show has surprised and delighted audiences around the globe.”
