Some of the top activities Costa Rica has to offer...
You want to visit Costa Rica! Awesome, we can help get you there. But one of the questions we’ll ask in helping you do so is what you’d like to see and do there. Relax? Explore nature? Seek adventure? All the above and more? Probably. There is just so much available, we’ll need to have a serious discussion on what your priorities are. To help we’ve put together a list of eight of the best activities to do during your visit. After reading let us know what’s on the top of yours!
8 Great Activities Costa Rica Has To Offer
1. Hiking – An activity that likely is top of mind when you think of Costa Rica and there certainly is no shortage of places to do so. Volcanoes, beaches, cloud forests – the choice is yours. Once that’s settled, think about the level of difficulty you’re comfortable with. These two things will help in the best recommendation. Additionally, it is suggested you consider guided hikes. Your expert leader will be able to provide general assistance and a trained eye to spot wildlife.
2. Surfing – Surfers from around the world frequent Costa Rica year-round because of its warm waters and waves. Choose your coast – Pacific or Caribbean, select your level of experience – beginner, intermediate, or advanced. We can even make some recommendations. If you’re in need of a lesson, they’re typically easy to find, even just by stepping foot on some beaches!
3. Snorkeling and Scuba – Wildlife sightings aren’t limited to land. There are 7,000+ marine species that can be found in Costa Rica’s surrounding waters. So, it is no surprise that it is on the top of the list for water activities. If you’re a snorkeler, think about if you’d like to do so by boat or shore. If a diver, we can help recommend dive sites. Just let us know your level of experience.
4. Whitewater Rafting – Costa Rica provides a stunning background for this adventure. There are a few areas that would be recommended if this is something you’d like to do. Beginner or advanced, let us know what intensity of rapids you’re comfortable with, and we can point you in the right direction. If the kiddos are up for the challenge, there are some options that are suitable for them too. It’s a great family activity!
5. Visit Waterfalls – Some of the most picturesque sights in Costa Rica can be found at its numerous waterfalls. After all, there’s something so magical about water cascading over a cliff to the pools below. There are plenty of options to choose from, just keep in mind a few things. Some falls will require a hike to access, entrance fees will vary, and some allow swimming while others do not. Also consider a guided tour if you won’t have access to a rental car during your stay.
6. Zip Lining – If you’ve Googled “excursions in Costa Rica” you’ve likely seen a picture of someone effortlessly flying over green canopy, rivers, and cliffs. It’s a very popular activity that can be found all over the country. You should expect a safety demo and a short hike. Then you’ll glide line by line, each getting a little longer than the one before. If you’re an adrenaline seeker this is a must do! If not, we wouldn’t recommend it. Do not invest money in something if you’re not 100% comfortable with.
7. Bird Watching – It isn’t unusual for people to travel to Costa Rica for this very reason. Some enthusiasts even build a whole itinerary around this activity. There is 900+ species and most often seen will likely be toucans, macaws, and hummingbirds. Because the country is so eco-diverse, make a couple of watching stops. Don’t forget your binoculars and camera!
8. Yoga – Yes, you read that right! Costa Rica is indeed a haven for yoga lovers. You could see or take a class quite literally anywhere – a resort, beach, volcano, or rainforest. If you’re a beginner, give it a try at least once. If you’re a wellness enthusiast and it’s your reason for travel, it belongs on your list. Think wellness retreat, group trip for your studio, location for instructor training or continuing education.
There you have it, some of the best that Costa Rica has to offer! Of course, there’s a ton more that isn’t listed, so if you have any questions let us know. If you’re ready to explore all that Costa Rica has to offer, please feel free to reach out!

DREAM vacation experience start to finish, so much thanks to Chastity with Vincent Vacations!!! I cannot recommend this company enough. They say Hawaii is expensive, and I suppose it can be, but Chas helped me plan a dream vacation within my budget and not once did I feel like I was missing out on anything! I got every experience I wanted, all within my budget. I absolutely loved the itinerary she put together for us and that saved me hours of time while we were in Hawaii. You will not work with a kinder and more intentional travel agent. She wanted us to have fun just as much as we did! -Lindsey Dodoo

Where do we begin? Chastity was fantastic to work with from the beginning of planning our trip to during our trip and even coming back home. She never had experience with our hotel and went above and beyond by researching everything for us to make our stay even better. She was so prompt in returning emails and calls and so organized at sending our entire itinerary to us. We stayed at Grand Princess Rivera and it was truly beautiful. The food was great, the rooms were very nice and the drinks were top notch. The environment was so peaceful and relaxing. It is a great resort for just adults wanting a trip but it is also very kid friendly as well. There is quite the variety offered at this hotel. The animal life is truly amazing on the property and one experience you won’t forget. We highly recommend this resort and highly recommend working with Chastity for any of your vacation needs! Chastity Debro is amazing!! We booked a trip to Aruba. Another passenger on our first flight from OKC to CLT had a major medical emergency causing us to miss our connecting flight. Family vacation to Dreams Natura Mexico
We recently got home from a wonderful vacation that Travel by Chas with Vincent Vacations booked for us. We went to Cancun, Mexico. She got us 2 really fun excursions. Puerto Vallarta-Villa Premier Boutique Hotel
We want to thank Chastity Lane Debro for helping us plan the perfect trip to celebrate our anniversary in Mexico. We are both from Mexico & visit our family there at least once a year but wanted to go somewhere we hadn’t been before.
Chastity was nothing short of amazing & overly helpful. I had been wanting to visit the town of Sayulita, Nayarit, which is about a 45 minute drive from Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. I found the perfect Airbnb in Sayulita and Chastity worked around that to find the perfect adult only resort in PV for us. She was more than happy to coordinate our flights with my Airbnb reservation, allowing us to split our trip between the two places like we wanted. I never felt rushed or pressured & felt completely comfortable asking any questions because she demonstrated to genuinely enjoy what she does.
If you are planning a trip to PV & the idea of an uncrowned, smaller scale, but high end resort with amazing food & drinks, I highly suggest checking out Villa Premiere Boutique Hotel & Spa Romantic Getaway. It is walking distance to the Malecon so you can easily leave the resort and take a walk to town to sightsee, shop, enjoy tasting authentic Mexican treats among lots of other things, all while enjoying the ocean view. We couldn’t have chosen a better destination or a better travel agent to help us put this trip together. I can’t say enough how wonderful this trip was. Thank you so much Chastity!
-Manuel and Raquel Cabrales

Embarking on a CIE tour to Ireland was a decision that promised not just a vacation but a voyage through history, comfort, and camaraderie. From the moment the wheels of the spacious bus started rolling, to the final farewell at the airport, every aspect of the journey was a testament to the well-thought-out planning of CIE Tours International.
One of the immediate highlights of the tour was the choice of accommodations. Each stay was not just a place to rest but an integral part of the Irish experience. The warm welcomes, cozy interiors, and hearty breakfasts were a perfect complement to the day's adventures. It's remarkable how CIE Tours seamlessly integrated comfortable lodgings into the fabric of the trip, making each night a memorable part of the overall experience.
The heartbeat of our journey was a spacious and comfortable bus that became more than just a mode of transport; it was our mobile sanctuary. The knowledgeable and affable driver doubled as a storyteller, adding an extra layer of engagement to the journey. The camaraderie formed among fellow travelers, fostered by the comfortable bus setting, transformed the tour from a sightseeing expedition into a shared adventure.
One of the standout features of the CIE tour was the inclusion of historic sites in the overall cost. Ireland's rich history unfolded before us as we explored castles, ancient monasteries, and archaeological wonders. From the dramatic Cliffs of Moher to the enchanting gardens of Blarney Castle , each destination was carefully curated, offering not only a visual feast but a deep dive into Ireland's storied past. The fact that these visits were seamlessly integrated into the itinerary meant that we could focus on absorbing the history and culture without the hassle of additional planning or costs.

From the legends of ancient folklore to the political struggles of modern times, our guide's narrative painted a vivid picture of Ireland's multifaceted identity. In conclusion, my journey through Ireland with CIE Tours was a seamless blend of comfort, history, and camaraderie. From the great accommodations to the spacious bus, the historic sites included in the tour, and the exceptional tour guide, every element of the trip was meticulously crafted. CIE Tours not only showcased the beauty of Ireland but also made the country's rich tapestry of history and culture accessible and unforgettable. If you're contemplating a tour that seamlessly weaves together comfort and exploration, a CIE tour to Ireland might just be the perfect choice.

From the lush gardens of Victoria to the coastal views of Vancouver, here’s an itinerary that’ll make your trip one to remember.
Day 1: Victoria – A Day of Beauty and Charm

This stunning 55-acre garden is a floral paradise, with vibrant blooms throughout the year. Grab a coffee or tea at the entrance and enjoy a leisurely scroll through the Sunken Garden, Japanese Garden, and Rose Garden, and don’t forget your camera—the views here are nothing short of magical.
Lunch: Head to Fisherman’s Wharf for lunch at Barb's, a local seafood spot famous for its mouthwatering fish and chips. Order the crispy fish wrapped in newspaper with the Poutine fries and enjoy it while taking in the lively atmosphere of the floating houses along the wharf. Keep an eye out for seals and harbor life—it’s a quintessential Victoria experience! Just a short drive a way you can stop at Red Fish Blue Fish for another Fish and Chip experience. My personal fave was Red Fish Blue Fish, but I'm very glad we experienced both local spots for amazing Fish and Chips.
Afternoon: After lunch, head over to the Malahat SkyWalk, where you’ll be treated to jaw-dropping views of Victoria's Island’s forests and coastline. The walkway takes you through towering trees and leads up to a spectacular sky bridge with panoramic views of the Saanich Peninsula and beyond. It’s the perfect spot for some nature therapy before you continue your journey. After enjoying the breathtaking views at the top of the tower, enjoy the slide to the bottom!

The surrounding rainforest is breathtaking, and the park’s cliffwalk offers even more incredible views.

Or if you are not up for walking, you can take a short drive and park there. At the base near the check in counter, we encountered an ice cream truck and this was the best ice cream cone I have ever had. Grab an ice cream cone, get on the gondola, and take in the views of Howe Sound and the Stawamus Chief Mountain. Once you reach the top, you can start hiking or enjoy a meal at the restaurant overlooking the stunning mountains and sea.

Traveling to Ireland can be a wonderful experience, filled with stunning landscapes, rich history, and friendly locals. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your trip:
Weather Preparation:
Ireland's weather can be unpredictable. Pack layers, a waterproof jacket, and sturdy, comfortable shoes for walking. Ireland is a temperate climate so the temps don't typically get below 40 degrees or above 80 degrees. I wore tennis shoes for walking around bigger cities like Dublin but my rainboots were perfect for outside of Dublin in the smaller country towns.
Currency:
The currency in Ireland is the Euro (€). The currency in Northern Ireland is pound sterling (£). It's advisable to have some cash on hand for small purchases, but credit cards are widely accepted. If using a credit card, make sure your credit card does not charge any foreign transaction fees. You can find ATM's at the airport upon arrival but the fees are more expensive than just picking them up from your local bank. I recommend checking with your bank to see if they offer currency exchanges. If they do, plan to do this 2-3 weeks prior to your trip.
Driving:
If you plan to rent a car and drive, please keep these in mind. They drive on the left hand side of the road, the driver's seat is on the right hand side of the car, the roads are very narrow, and you will need to familiarize yourself with the road signs and rules before hitting the road. It is HIGHLY recommended that you get insurance through the car rental company.
If you do not feel comfortable with the idea of trying to learn to drive in Ireland you can pay for a day tour with a tour company. The tour company will arrange transportation for you and will even share lots of great history as you start your journey to the sites of your choice (this all depends on which tour you book).
Public Transportation:
Ireland has an extensive public transportation system, including buses, trains, and taxis. For the taxis, you can download an app called FREENOW. This is basically their version of Uber. The app accepts credit cards so no cash is needed to use FREENOW.
Accommodations:
Book accommodations in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons. Ireland offers a range of options from cozy B&Bs to luxurious hotels. If you are booking a package with a tour company that specializes in group tours the accommodations are included in the price of the package.
Packing:
Pack a universal adapter for your electronic devices, as Ireland uses a different type of electrical outlet. If your devices are not dual voltage (ex: shavers/hair dryer) you will need a voltage converter because U.S uses a 110 volt and Ireland uses a 220 volt.
Local Cuisine:
Try traditional Irish dishes like Irish stew, seafood chowder, and soda bread. Don't forget to savor a pint of Guinness, but also explore the local craft beer scene at the local Pubs. Some of our favorites were Merry Ploughboy's Irish Stew, Queen of Tarts for breakfast, Boxty House's Fish and Chips, and Bambinos hot honey pizza. Dublin has so many AMAZING restaurants it was so hard to choose. I don't think you will be disappointed with anything you pick. You will notice that everything in Ireland is organic making the food even more delicious!
Cultural Etiquette:
Irish people are known for their friendliness. Engage in conversations, be polite, and enjoy the local culture. Don't be afraid to ask for recommendations; locals are usually happy to help.
Explore Beyond Dublin:
While Dublin is a vibrant city with a lot to offer, don't miss the chance to explore the countryside and smaller towns. The Ring of Kerry, Cliffs of Moher, Blarney Castle, and Giant's Causeway are just a few of the breathtaking natural attractions.
Learn Some Local Phrases:
While English is the primary language, Irish (Gaelic) is also spoken. Locals appreciate visitors making an effort to use common phrases like 'hello' ('Dia dhuit') or 'thank you' ('Go raibh maith agat'). Please DO NOT say, 'Top of the morning' to anyone. This is not something Irish people say and it can be annoying to them.
Check Event Calendars:
Look for local events or festivals happening during your visit. This can add a unique and memorable dimension to your trip. So make sure to plan ahead if this is something you would love to experience. For example, St. Patrick's Day would be a fun experience while visiting Ireland. Keep in mind though that Ireland does not celebrate the way Americans do. They do not dress in green. This may shock you but they have never even heard of the the tradition of pinching anyone who is not wearing green. This is actually an American tradition...NOT Irish.
Travel Insurance:
Ensure you have travel insurance that covers medical expenses and potential trip disruptions. You never know what may happen. During our visit, we were in a car accident. Luckily, we were in a group tour on a VERY large bus so only minor damage was done to our bus, but the other driver totaled her car. Had we rented a car and was driving ourselves, it would have been very bad. It is better to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to Travel Protection.
Respect Nature:
Ireland is known for its stunning landscapes. Be respectful of the environment, follow designated trails, and leave no trace. Ireland takes pride in her beauty and does a great job of keeping her clean. So be respectful and do not litter.
Plan for Rain:
Rain is common in Ireland, so be prepared with waterproof gear and plan indoor activities just in case. There are lots of museums you can visit in Dublin. Some people bring hand held umbrellas but you won't find many locals carrying them. If you want to blend in, just wear your raincoat and enjoy the outdoors whether sunshine or rain.
